About Us
102|north is a boutique hair salon in downtown Elon, just across Williamson Avenue from campus. Our renovated space has been an integral part of downtown Elon since 1891, when it opened as the town’s first Post Office. We designed our space with a minimal and modern aesthetic that highlights the original beauty of our historic building.
102|north was created with a very specific vision: to customize beautiful hair in a peaceful and laid-back setting.
102|north is home to experienced, independent stylists.
Each stylist manages their own services, pricing and booking requests and their booking links can be found in the brief biographies below. Whether you are a returning client, or inquiring for your first appointment, simply use the booking link for the stylist you would like to book with.
We specialize in cut and color and pride ourselves in delivering the highest quality, with every detail attended to. We care about you, your hair and your experience, and we want every client to leave looking and feeling their absolute best!
Stylists
Shelley grew up by Lake Norman, with a natural passion for hair. Led by her interests in the arts, she attended East Carolina University, where she received her B.A. in Theatre in 2004. Following graduation, Shelley moved to NYC to pursue her first love: the art of hair. She earned her cosmetology license from the Aveda Institute in New York City in 2006 and later worked at a salon in the West Village. She remains grateful for the experience, creative exposure and inspiration she gained there.
Love and family brought her back to N.C., where she worked at an Aveda concept salon for 11 years. After an extensive renovation, Shelley opened 102|north in May of 2021, bringing her dream of creating a welcoming, thoughtfully designed salon space to life in the town that her family calls home. Since then, she intentionally operated the salon while continuing to refine her craft through ongoing education in both cutting and color.
She specializes in natural, sun-kissed blondes, dimensional brunettes, long layered styles, and detailed, modern bobs. Shelley loves building genuine relationships with her clients and creating personalized looks that help them feel confident, comfortable, and completely themselves.
Kaila grew up with a huge love for fashion, beauty and the arts and knew she would pursue a career in that direction. Once in the industry, she quickly realized hairdressing was her dream job. In her years as a makeup artist she saw just how important making people feel beautiful and confident was. The ever-changing hair industry is just another way she gets to combine her love for design and art.
Kaila received her cosmetology license at Leon’s Beauty School in Greensboro and completed the apprenticeship program at Local Honey Salon. There, she trained under their Master Stylist and feels so lucky for the training and continuing education she received during those years. After three awesome years in Greensboro behind the chair, she is ready to get back closer to home and family to start her career at 102|north!
Kaila specializes in soft lived in color, specialty styling and long textured cuts. She is also trained in makeup, airbrush makeup and is excited to bring her specialties to her new work home.

Services
We specialize in blonding and dimensional color using a variety of techniques and strategic placement. Foiling, foliage, baby lights, balayage, color melting, and air lights are all in our wheelhouse. Extra length or density that requires additional color or time can add additional costs. If you would like a more personalized quote before your service, simply reach out to your desired stylist and they will be in touch! The prices below will give you a starting point for each service, but each stylist sets their rates.
Full: Blonding, lowlights, or dimensional color throughout with gloss | $170+
Partial: Includes hairline, perimeter, and crown area and gloss | $140+
Mini: For a subtle change and color pop, or a refresh between color visits. Includes face frame foils around hairline and gloss | $120+
All over root to end color | $120+
